Linda is a provisional licensed professional counselor and mediator in Missouri.
She is currently completing state required qualifications for full licensure in
2012. She began her counseling career with McDonnell and Associates in
September of 2010 working with individuals, groups, and families.
Education for Linda started at the University of Missouri – Kansas City in social
work. She went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in business from Ottawa
University, Kansas, an MBA from MidAmerica Nazarene University, a Master
of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University, and
mediation credentialing from Community Mediation Center. She is currently
working on certification in alcohol and substance abuse. Linda’s internship was
completed at the Groves, an independent and assisted living community in
Independence where she worked with older adults. Her major focus was on the
aging process and its effect on individuals. She has experience working with
depression and grief. Also, she was a brain fitness coach working to help older
adults improve cognition skills. Her therapeutic foundation is based on
existentialism. She draws from a variety of theories and techniques to help
those she works with including faith-based counseling and mindfulness.
Prior to becoming a therapist, Linda worked for a major corporation in Kansas
City. She held various management and leadership positions in marketing,
corporate communications, and organizational development. She is well versed
in the frustrations and stress of corporate America. Linda also was an instructor
at a local university.
Linda is a member of the American Counseling Association both national and
local and the Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association
